Are you the type of person who’s always on the lookout for the next best thing or constantly wanting to improve your current life / situation? Or do you just wish you were that person?
Well, the good news is that there are always going to be new ways to improve your life and they don’t always mean that you have to spend a ton of money too. It can be something as simple as changing the way you look at things, adjusting your mind set or incorporating a 10 minute morning regime. I wouldn’t say I’ve been unhappy with my life lately but I’m definitely not content so I’ve delved into the world of self-love and self-acceptance and comprised together a number of mantras I can commit to to make my life better.
Slow Down
Everyone is always so busy these days and we’re always concentrating o the next ‘big’ thing that’s happening for us; our Aunt’s wedding in September, next year’s summer holiday, our best friend’s birthday. We often forget to stop, look around and appreciate the good things that we already have. In the words of Lily Tomlin “For fast-acting relief, try slowing down”.
When you take a moment to slow everything down and concentrate on the things you have an are truly grateful for, only then will you begin to see your life for everything it is.
Let Go Of Toxic Connections

If you’ve got friendships, relations, family connections that affect the way you see yourself and your life, then they need to go. So many people get caught up in a cycle of going back to toxic relationships, maybe it’s because of love or something else, but all it does is end up causing more hurt and grief.
The best way to let go of a toxic person is to cut off all contact. It might be tough at first, especially if it’s someone you invested a lot of time into, but believe me you’ll reap the benefits a few months down the line.
Focus On What You Enjpy
It’s as simple as that! You need to start doing the things you really enjoy, instead of focusing on the things you want enjoy but don’t have. If you have 4 hours free-time each day, dedicate at least one of them to a hobby; learn to cook, take a dance class, go cheer on your favourite team.

Do what you love and you’ll find your way out to the world.

Make More Time For Sleep
Getting enough sleep is one of the easiest ways to refresh our mind-sets, and it just so happens to be one of the first healthy habits that goes to pot when we’re super-busy. If you’re anything like me and you’re tired then you’re going to be grouchy, irritable and generally not appreciating life for what it is.
Think about that Sunday morning where you stayed in the night before, got an early night, had a lie in and woe up feeling super-refreshed. Wasn’t that nice? Don’t underestimate the power of sleep.

If you struggle getting enough sleep each night, or even a decent night’s sleep, check out my tips on how to get the best night’s sleep.
Practice Gratitude
Taking some time out to look at your life and all the things you have to be grateful for is the simplest way to appreciate life. Try writing a list of all the things you have to be happy about. Write it in your notes on your phone, make it your screensaver or stick it on the fridge so you see it every day. Gratitude boosts your positive emotions and in turn will increase how happy you are within your life.
There’s always something to be thankful for. If you’ve got a roof over your head, food in the fridge and at least one person who cares about you, you are more fortunate than you think.
What are your top tips to creating a better life?
What a really helpful blog post. I’ve been so stressed and pressured with life recently that I hardly have time to enjoy and unwind for a bit. Love this post! 💛
