It’s funny because I used to see my friends go through break-ups and I’d be there for them but in the back of my mind I’d be thinking ‘Why can’t you just pull yourself together?’ or ‘He was a d*ck anyway, surely you can see that you deserved so much better?’. And then it happened to me and I finally understood.

Summer’s in full swing with its long, stuffy days and it comes hand in hand with social invites, evenings out with friends, dinners, drinks, holidays and travelling. It can be intense when you’re burning the candles at both ends to make the most of the weather. It’s only normally to have a holiday approach to things when the weather is warm – enjoying a few too many dinners out, saying yes to that cocktail after work, not exercising enough.
We live in an era where we just love to treat ourselves no matter what the occasion. Had a busy week at work? Treat yourself. Just broke up with your boyfriend? Treat yourself. Had a bad day? Treat yourself. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with treating yourself, heck I do it more than most, but who’s to say that treats always need to come at a cost? So we always have times (some more than often) where we just lose our mojo and can’t be bothered putting in the graft. But if you want to be successful then you’re going to need to put in the work. Success waits for no-one and it’s especially not going to hang around just because you’re tired, hungry or wishing you were on the beach.
